Niagara, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have signed British standout and second round 2021 CHL Import Draft selection Alex Graham.
The 2003-born player joins the IceDogs from Sheffield, England. In his 2019-20 season, Graham had 21 goals, and 31 assists totalling 52 points in 38 games. He turned professional in the UK, playing for his hometown team, the Steelers. The 6-foot-2, 192lb forward played in 16 games in the condensed EIHL season. He has previously represented England internationally at the U-18 and U-20 levels. Graham was selected by the IceDogs with the 105th pick of the 2021 CHL Import Draft.
General Manager, Joey Burke, shares his enthusiasm:
“This is an exciting commitment for us, Alex is a guy who has improved his game at every level and continues to prove that he deserves this opportunity. It’s funny we were looking closely at Alex last import draft if things had unfolded differently for us and are thrilled to be able to have him commit today. It is a true testament to the caliber of English Ice Hockey and where they are at. We believe Alex will have a ton of success at our level. This is a guy who can score at will and we believe he is capable of contributing all over the ice for us and we can’t wait to get going.”
Graham follows in the footsteps of another Sheffield star. Former Steelers forward Liam Kirk played with the Peterborough Petes from 2018-20 and signed a three-year entry-level NHL contract with the Arizona Coyotes this past summer.
