The youngest player participating in the Memorial eCup presented by Kia isn’t intimidated by anyone!
Guelph Storm forward Danny Zhilkin, who won’t turn 17 until December 19th, will represent the OHL’s latest champion when the virtual puck drops on November 28th. Zhilkin, who was the 14th overall pick of the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, will try and translate his real life offensive creativity into EA Sports success.
Zhilkin put together a 15-point rookie season for the Storm in 2019-20. He enjoyed a strong showing at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, recording six points (4-2–6) in five games for Canada Black.
Zhilkin was born in Moscow but moved to Mississauga at the age of six. He was accompanied by fellow Russians Pavel Gogolev, Fedor Gordeev, Daniil Chayka and Andrei Bakanov on the Storm roster this past season. Other Russian talents in Dmitri Samorukov and Alexey Toropchenko played big roles in Guelph’s 2019 OHL Championship effort.
