BUFFALO – Cassidy MacPherson, the outstanding all-zone center from Oakville, Ontario and out of Providence College, has signed a contract to return for her second NWHL season with the Buffalo Beauts.
“The Beauts fans are truly the best and I’m excited to continue playing in front of them,” said MacPherson. “I can’t wait to start season 6! I am so grateful to be able to continue my hockey career here in Buffalo.”
MacPherson played in all 24 regular season games and Buffalo’s lone playoff game during the 2019-20 season, recording five goals, seven assists and 12 points on. MacPherson was a key contributor for the Beauts late in the season, as she recorded points (3-2-5) in five of the team’s final six games.
MacPherson’s 146 NCAA games played for the Providence Friars is a program record. She missed only two games during her entire NCAA career. For her collegiate career, she was 25-53-78 in scoring. MacPherson won team awards for Most Improved Player (2015-16), the Seventh Player Award (2016-17), and the Unsung Hero Award (2018-19).
“(Coach) Pete Perram believes Cassidy is one of the most underrated players in the NWHL, and he has high expectations for her second season in the pros,” said Buffalo GM Nate Oliver. “Cass is very solid in the faceoff circle, she’s a versatile forward, and one of the most respected leaders on our team. This signing was an extremely important one for the Beauts as we continue to build our roster for next season.”
