The Carolina Hurricanes are a ” bunch of jerks” who are now one win away from sweeping the New York Islanders out of the playoffs and advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals after a 4-2 victory in Game 3 on Wednesday.
And the team’s social media team picked up their own win after the game when they had some fun pushing back at the Islanders over a celebration by Islanders’ Brock Nelson that many deemed to be disrespectful.
The celebration in question came right after Josh Bailey tied the game for the Islanders in the second period. Nelson skated passed Carolina’s goalie, Curtis McElhinney, and gave him a tap on his head.
The Islanders quickly tweeted this:
Tag. You’re it. pic.twitter.com/XRbUz0oxv0

And then the Hurricanes dropped the hammer after the game:
They’re out here playing tag.
We’re out here playing hockey. https://t.co/vv43ciaZPJ

Well played, ya jerks!
Whoever crafted that tweet deserves a raise.
