“We’re excited to build upon the success of last year’s inaugural Advanced Officiating Symposium,” said Matt Leaf, USA Hockey director of officiating education. “The event provides a unique opportunity for officials nationwide to meet and learn through advanced-level instruction in order to pursue higher levels within USA Hockey’s Officiating Program. The tenured status achieved is an additional benefit for those aspiring officials.
Tenured officials are a specific category for accomplished officials who demonstrate dedication to long-term development and making the game of hockey better in their local communities while in USA Hockey’s Officiating Program. Officials applying for tenured stats are required to attend an Advanced Officiating Symposium.
“I have never attended a conference where the attendees have been so engaged and passionate throughout,” said Joy Johnston, Ice Hockey U.K. manager of officiating. Johnston was a speaker at the inaugural symposium and is expected to return again this year. “It was energizing to be in the room with them all.”
