NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women’s ice hockey program announced three captains for the 2020-21 season, as announced by head coach Erin Hamlen Friday.
The trio of seniors will be led by Megan Fergusson as captain, with Courtney Maud and Dominika Laskova representing as assistants.
Fergusson represented as an assistant captain last season as the only non-senior member of the leadership team. In her third year as a Warrior, the forward notched eight points, while appearing in all 34 games for the Warriors. For the second straight year, she won more than half of her faceoffs during the year. Fergusson jumped into a leadership role after a stellar sophomore season when she was third on the team in scoring.
Leading the returning corps in games played, Courtney Maud brings 104 games of experience with 12 goals and 24 points in her three years at Merrimack. In 2019-20 she was second-highest on the team in goal scoring and power play goals, and had a standout weekend with two goals in Belfast, Northern Ireland earning a Player of the Game honor.
Finishing second on the team in points scoring with 17 points and assists with 13 last year, Dominika Laskova enters her senior season after a potent year. The Prague, Czech Republic native competed in 32 games where she had five two-point games on the year.
The trio will lead an underclass-heavy squad for the 2020-21 season, as 16 returners are joined by a new group of eight first years.
